Our Dermatologists
Dr. Flegel & Dr. Roberts are board certified dermatologists by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as the American Board of Dermatology. They completed dermatology residency together at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. Dr. Flegel and Dr. Roberts work in adjacent clinic spaces but share staff and a central referral system. As Dermatologists they are experts in the treatment of conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails.
What does board certified mean?
Dermatologists in Canada are regulated by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The designation FRCPC indicates being a Fellow of the Royal College. This means that your dermatologist has completed their medical training (a 5 year residency program) in an accredited Dermatology program, and written and passed all required licensing examinations to practice dermatology in Canada.
In the United States the regulatory body for Dermatologists is the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). Both Dr. Roberts and Dr. Flegel are Diplomates of the ABD (DABD), which means they have written and passed their American licensing exams as well.
Dr. Lisa Flegel

Dr. Flegel is a board certified dermatologist. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of British Columbia and is a now a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at UBC. She attended medical school in the Northern Medical Program in Prince George, BC and is excited to be back in Prince George to practice.
Dr. Matthew Roberts
MD FRCPC DABD
Dr. Roberts is a board certified dermatologist and Clinical Instructor for the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at the University of British Columbia. He completed medical school and a family medicine residency through the University of Calgary. He later completed dermatology training through the University of British Columbia and established a practice in Prince George, BC in 2022.
His practice includes medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.
